Wer kann bitte meinen Gastfamilienbrief verbessern? :)

Dear host family,

First of all, I want to thank you for taking the time to read my letter and spending time on getting to know me better. I am writing to you because I want to learn more about your culture and your daily life. I would be very glad, if you gave me this chance and let me be a part of your family but first of all I will try, as well as I can, to describe myself and my life here in Germany. So that you have a first impression of me,

my name is Vivien xxxxx, I am a fifteen year old girl from Germany. Specifically, I come from a small village called xxxxx to the north of Hamburg. My village has a population of about 800 people. In general, the people who know me describe me as an open-minded, responsible and active person.
I was born on September 11th 19xx and currently I am in the 10th grade at a common school with an upper secondary level, in a city near my village. My school has about 900 students and my favorite subjects are art, drama, sports and of course English! For some time now I am a conflict mediator at my school. Beside this I am a part of the paramedic team at school. My School starts every day at seven forty-five and it is out at either half past three or 1 o’clock. After I have finished school I want to study, maybe taking a semester abroad.
At the moment I am not really sure what I want to study, maybe something creative, but I think there is still enough time left to decide this.

I live with my parents and my older sister in a detached house with a garden. We have three cats. At first, we only had two but then we also took in a stray. My mother works as a clerk in public administration and my father is a mechanical engineer.
I get along very well with my parents, they always want the best for me and I am very grateful to them, especially for allowing me this exchange year.
My sister Maureen is nineteen years old and she finished school this year with A levels. In August, she starts a voluntary social year, at an elementary school. I get along well with her and we do a lot together. Sometimes we argue, but that is just normal. We have lot of fun together as a family, but we can also talk to each other seriously.

In my free time I do ballet and modern jazz dance. In addition to sports I take weekly acoustical guitar lessons. I eat everything except meat. I am aware that in Australia much meat is eaten, and I don’t have a problem with that at all.
In addition to these hobbies, I enjoy reading, drawing, swimming, horseback riding and listening to music.
I like many different music genres, but my favorite singer songwriter is Taylor Swift. I also like spending time with my friends and do some acitivities with them. My best friend is xxx, we are classmates and we have known each other for many years. We have a lot of fun together and I can tell her everything.

My biggest dream is to do an exchange year.
I’m very interested in other cultures and I think that living in Australia will be an awesome experience for me.
I think that it will have a big influence of my life and my personality.
When I was in grade nine, I decided to spend a year abroad, when I first heard about it at a student exchange fair at my school.
I was fascinated at once by the idea of spending a year abroad.
And I chose Australia specifically, because we had this as a topic in our English lessons. From that point on I have been really impressed by Australia. I like that the Australian people are very friendly, active and open-minded. You hear a lot of the „Australian way of life“ in Germany but unfortunately, I have never had the opportunity to visit your country. I am really looking forward to my first Australian school day.
I especially think it is great that there are so many activities offered after school and that you can choose from among different and interesting subjects. I would like to know more about your culture and lifestyle and learn about the differences between Germany and Australia.
Besides I would love to improve my English language skills. Maybe I can give you an understanding of the German culture.

This year abroad has been my biggest dream for a very long time and I’m so happy that it will become a reality.
So, I hope you like my letter, and have received an impression of me and my daily life.

I am sure I will have wonderful 10 months in Australia, with many beautiful memories, which I will never forget!

If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to contact me. My e-mail adress is xxxxxxxxxxxx.

Many greetings from Germany,

Yours xxxx.
