DANKE SCHONMAL

Dear future host family,

I would like to give you a first impression of me and my life.
My name is Nicole R, I am 19 years old . My hometown is a small place called …, about 150 kilometers away from Frankfurt (Main), right in the middle of Germany. I live in a house with my mother Christina (56) and my father Christof (56). My mother works in a kindergarten and my father is an electrician but I like to call him a multitalent. I also have two sisters. My sister Marta (30) lives with her boyfriend 85 kilometers away from my hometown. My sister Katharina (32) lives very near to me. She is already married and has two daughters: Amy (4) and Virginia (8). Another family member is our cat Luis. He loves to fool around and to sleep all day long. My family is a very important part of my life. They are all supporting my idea of flying to the USA and they are always very helpful which I appreciate a lot. All of my family members mean a lot to me. I can entrust them everything and I just love to be with all of them.

Let me tell you more about myself and my interests.
In June this year I will finish school with my A- levels. After my Au Pair year I would like to go to University and study journalism. I am very interested in writing and how TV programs develop and I like reading magazines and newspapers as well. Therefore I think this would be a right thing for me.
Another interest of mine is acting. I go to acting classes since fourth grade.
I like singing as well and dancing is also one of my passions.
I also like meeting my friends. We do a lot together. For example we go to the movie theater, to a restaurant or just outside going for a walk. My friends are very important to me as well. It is important to me to entrust them my problems and fears. They also support my idea of becoming an Au Pair in the USA.

I would describe myself as a very reliable, flexible, open- and warm- hearted, friendly and very trustworthy person. I am also very humorous and funny and I love to fool and joke around sometimes.

Why do I want to become an Au Pair?
My simplest answer to that would be: I love children. I love their smile when they are happy and when they show you that they like you. I love to see them growing up and I really enjoy spending time with them. Since I have two nieces I already started caring for children at the age of ten and I had to learn very early what a responsibility it is to rake care of a little child.
Why do I want to become an Au Pair in the USA?
I am very interested in other cultures. Of course the USA is a big country and there is a lot to see which also excites me. I would also really like to know how you spend Christmas in the USA or Thanksgiving of what I only heard positive things about. I already know some things about the American way of life but I really want to know more.
With your family I would really love to develop a good relationship and it is really important to me to feel at home. I hope I can be another part and another family member of your family.

Most of the time I was babysitting for to mothers. I took care of a girl called Anna (8). I really like her and we do a lot together. For example we do a lot outside like sledging in the winter or just going for a walk. We also play inside her house. She really likes Barbie dolls so we often play with Barbies. It is always so nice to see her because she is such a lovely girl.
Another child I took care of is Luca (8). We understand each other very well. Luca is a real boy. He loves to play soccer and he likes cars. I helped him with his homework and we also went to an animal park together with my nieces and friends. Luca is a really nice boy and he is also very funny. It is always a pleasure for me to take care of him.

I would describe myself as a good driver. I have passed my drivers license in December 2011 and I drive a lot during the week and I have never had an accident. During my lessons in the driving school I have also passed a first aid course and I have experiences in driving in snow as well. I really like to drive a car and I am not afraid at all.

In conclusion, I would like to thank you a lot for taking time to get to know me better. I am very much looking forward to hearing from you and being an Au Pair in the USA. I would be very happy to have a great and unforgettable time in the USA with your family.

Yours sincerely,

Nicole
