Host family letter :D

Danke schonmal! :grinning:

Dear host family,

My name is Marie I’m sixteen years old and I’m living in Germany. First of all I would like to thank you for reading this letter and giving me the chance to become a part of your family for ten months. In this letter I will tell you something about my family, my hobbies, my everyday life in Germany, my plans for the future and my motivation to living in the USA as an exchange student for ten months.

Now I’d like to introduce you my family. My father is XX years old and works as a self-employed installer. My mother is XX years old and works as a kindergarden teacher in a Catholic kindergarden. I have one eighteen-year-old sister who still goes to school. I and my sister do a lot of things together because we have a similar taste and similar interests. For example we both like baking and watching fantasy movies. I understand myself very good with my whole family because we help each other with problems and support us in our activities and interests.
At home everyone has to help to keep the house clean and to prepare the meals so nobody has to do it all by himself so I have to vacuum the house, to dispel the dishwasher and to prepare lunch or dinner. On special days like Christmas or birthdays we spent most of the time together and celebrate the day with the whole family which is very important to me.

In my leisure time I play soccer in a soccer club. Luckily I can play in a girls team where everybody likes each other. I play soccer since I’m seven and so does a few of my teammates so I found very good friends in this time. I also spent my leisure time with meeting my best friend Allison. Another hobby of me is sewing what my godmother taught me. Unfortunately I don’s sew very often because the fabric is expensive in Germany. A big project on which I worked together with my godmother was sewing a jedi costume from the Star Wars movies which was very difficult without having precise introductions.
At school I’ve just a few friends but I’m totally fine with that because I have many friends at my soccer club and friends on other schools. However I really like my class mates and we get on well with each other. My favorite subjects at school are English, art and a subject which is similar to drama.

The first thing I’d like to do in the future is to make my high school graduation. After that I hope I will be able to do a voluntary year of social service or a voluntary ecological year before I will go to University. Unfortunatey I have no specific idea about what I’d like to study but maybe I will study something technical or artistic.

At last I’d like to tell you why I’d like to go to the USA as an exchange student. One important reason is that I’d like to discover the diverse American culture and cancel prejudices. Another point is that I’d like to get to know new ways of looking at things and the world which will help me to deal better with conflicts.

I hope you received a good impression about me and you enjoyed reading my letter and I look forward to meet you.

Greetings from Germany,
Marie

Hey!
Viel Glück weiterhin! :):wink::grinning:

Vielen lieben Dank für den Tipp! :grinning:
Darauf wäre ich selber nicht gekommen, ich schreibe halt meistens eher formell und nicht so persönlich…
Dann wünsche ich dir auch noch weiterhin viel Erfolg! :+1:
