Elternbrief -bitte verbessern-

Dear future host family,
First of all I would like to thank you very much that you are going to host our son Timo in your home and that you would share your family-life for ten months with him. I appreciate your engagement and I hope that there will be a good relationship between you and my son.
Timo is a responsible, friendly, uncomplicated, honest and confident teenager. He has no problems to find new friends or to integrate in a new group. He is always helpful in the household and he likes to help his classmates or other people. Besides, Timo is openly for everything and is glad quite longingly about many new experiences and impressions during the foreign year.
In the moment my son visits a grammar school and he is in grade nine. Timo is without exception a good student with great marks and he had never problems at school. His favorite subjects are math, English and computer science, but he would like to discover with pleasure new subjects in the USA. Timo does his homework and learning for tests all by himself.
The most of his free time he spends for going rowing and for be a member of the child and youth parliament of our city. Timo goes rowing six times a week and in the child parliament and youth parliament he meets regularly all two weeks with his other parliamentarians to discuss problems about the youth policy. If he has then between all these things some time he meets often with his friends and go with them outside, to the cinema, go shopping or in the summer he eats some ice-cream with them.
Timo takes always an active part of our family-life, because of that he has also got to do work at home. For example he must tidy up his room or help cleaning the kitchen, but this does not disturb him, because he also loves to cooks and then he naturally washes up. Timo is always punctual and I am proud, that I can be sure of that. Also it is clear that he never drinks any alcohol or smokes. Moreover, last autumn Timo has already spent two weeks in a French guest family and has gone to school there. This spring the exchange pupil from my son visited us here in Germany. I hope very much that there is after the foreign year also the possibility to remain with your family in contact.
The reason why Timo wants to make an exchange year is, because he wants to get to know the American way of live and the strong American school spirit but also the different culture and the different people. In addition he wants to improve his English skills during the foreign year.
Now something about Timo’s family:
I, Timo’s mother am ** years old and I work as an assembler in the car industry. Since Timo is four month-old, his father lives apart, because he would not contributed Timo’s development. Timo has no brothers and sisters. Apart from that Timo has a very good relationship to his grandmother and helps her in all situations. We do much together, we go swimming, climbing, riding bike or play on a Sunday some family games together.
I am very happy that you will help our son to realize his dream to live ten months in the USA. It is a big chance for him, his life and his job in future.
Thank you for giving Timo a home for the next year and for letting him be a part of your family. We hope that it will be a wonderful year for you and our son.
Best regards from Germany,

Danke für eure Hilfe
