Achtung! Achtung! neuer "dear host family letter" Sorry!

Ich weiß, dass es euch schon zum hals heraus hängt aber ich würde mich freuen, wenn ihr euch diesen Brief mal anschauen und verbessern könntet.

Dear hostfamily,

first of all, I would like to thank you for reading my letter. As we haven`t met so far I would like to introduce myself to you and give you an impression of me, my interests, my life in Germany and why I would like to spend a year in New Zealand.

My name is Christian Kühne and I am fifteen years old. I live together with my parents Thang&Jürgen and my little sister Jenny in Berlin. She ist the cutest and happiest little thing in the entire world. But at the same time it is very hard to look after her, because she is never alone when I have to look after her. So there are at least two very active little girls and I have to keep an eye on them. Nearly impossible and never boring.

I have a very good relarionship to my parents, because they know when they have to take something seriously and when they can take it with humor. For example: When I was of the age of four or five, I told my parents that I was a bit confused that I dont look the same as my friends they had blonde hair and I had black). They laughed and told me thats because I`m half Vietnamese and half German. In my first year at school I found out some very usefull advantages of beeing both for example it takes way longer to get sunburnt than my father.

My friends would describe me as an open-minded, humorous, spontaneous, sportive and creative person. I love laughing, I am a positive but realistic person and I love to try out new things.

In my spare time I sometimes do bike tours with my family or with my friends. There is unfortunately no downhill bike-park in or nearby Berlin. So I can only do that in the holidays like snowboarding. I also love swimming, playing videogames(espacially on my xbox one), playing beachvolleyball or climbing in a climbingpark with my friends, on weekends. When we normaly hang out we go to the cinema or just walk through the malls in Berlin.

Currently I attend the 10th grade of the Gabriele-von-Bülow-Gymnasium. My favourite subjects are PE, History, Geography, English and German. I like History and Geography, because I want to know what was in the past and what is now. A customized articulation is very important and the base of all, thats why I like English and German. PE is anyway important. I am also interested in econemy and psychology.

You will probably ask yourself why I want tob e an international student. I think it is a great opportunity to have an insane experience, meet new people, get to know about New Zealand´s way of life and the culture(especially about the Maori). It is also a great opportunity to improve my English and to see some unique landscapes. I am so excited about my year abroad and would be glad to spend this time with you guys and become a part of your family !

I hope to hear from you soon !

Best regards,

Christian Kühne

Hallo Christian,

ich habe einige Kleinigkeiten korrigiert und umgeändert, was mir spontan aufgefallen ist, vielleicht hilft es dir ein wenig. Insgesamt ist der Brief aber ziemlich gut zu verstehen.

  1. Unverständlich fand ich diesen Teil hier: „There is unfortunately no downhill bike-park in or nearby Berlin. So I can only do that in the holidays like snowboarding.“ Irgendwie springst du von Fahrradfahren plötzlich zu Snowboarden.

  2. Die Anekdote über deine Haarfarbe fand ich an sich ganz witzig, bloß weiß ich nicht ganz, wieso das ein Beispiel dafür sein soll, dass deine Eltern zugleich streng und locker drauf sind?

  3. Auch unverständlich fand ich den Satz „A customized articulation is very important and the base of all“. Was wolltest du denn damit ausdrücken? Das Wort „customized“ bedeutet auf Deutsch im Wesentlichen „kundenorientiert“.

Viele Grüße und ganz viel Spaß im wunderschönen Neuseeland,

Marie-Claire

Dear host family,

first of all, I would like to thank you for reading my letter. As we haven`t met so far I would like to introduce myself to you and give you an impression of me, my interests, my life in Germany and why I would like to spend a year in New Zealand.

My name is Christian Kühne and I am 15 years old. I live together with my parents Thang and Jürgen and my little sister Jenny in Berlin. She ist the cutest and happiest little thing in the entire world. But at the same time it is very hard to look after her because she is never alone when I have to look after her. So there are at least two very active little girls and I have to keep an eye on them. Nearly impossible and never boring.

I have a very good relationship to my parents because they know when they have to take something seriously and when they can take it with humor. For example: At the age of four or five, I told my parents that I was a bit confused that I did not look the same as my friends (they had blonde hair and I had black hair). They laughed and told me thats because Im half Vietnamese and half German. During my first year at school I found out some very useful advantages of being both Vietnamese and German, for example it takes way longer to get sunburnt than my father. (?)

My friends would describe me as an open-minded, humorous, spontaneous, sportive and creative person. I love laughing, I am a positive but realistic person and I love to try out new things.

In my spare time I sometimes do bike tours with my family or with my friends. There is unfortunately no downhill bike park nearby Berlin. So I can only do that in the holidays like snowboarding. (?)
I also love swimming, playing videogames (espacially on my xbox one), playing beach volleyball or climbing in a climbing park with my friends during the weekends. When we hang out we often go to the cinema or just walk through the malls in Berlin.

Currently I attend the 10th grade at high school. My favourite subjects are PE, history, geography, English and German. I like history and geography because I want to know something about past times and nowadays. A customized articulation is very important and the base of all, thats why I like English and German. (?) PE is important anyway. I am also interested in economics and psychology.

You will probably ask yourself why I want to be an international student. I think it is a great opportunity to have an insane experience, meet new people and get to know about New Zealand´s way of life and culture (especially about the Maori). It is also a great opportunity to improve my English and see some unique landscapes. Ist es so besser?

Dear hostfamily,
first of all, I would like to thank you for reading my letter. As we haven`t met so far I would like to introduce myself to you and give you an impression of me, my interests, my life in Germany and why I would like to spend a year in New Zealand.

My name is Christian Kühne and I am fifteen years old. I live together with my parents Thang and Jürgen and my little sister Jenny in Berlin. So there are at least two very active little girls and I have to keep an eye on them. Nearly impossible and never boring.

I have a very good relarionship to my parents but they cant be more different. My mom is Vietnamese and school ist he most important thing for her. If school is ok, everything is ok and she is the nicest mom of the world but one bad mark in a little test or homework can change everything. My dad is German and the most important thing for him is that we know what we can do and what we cant do. Hi thinks that self-assessment is the base for a good life.

My friends would describe me as an open-minded, humorous, spontaneous, sportive and creative person. I love laughing, I am a positive but realistic person and I love to try out new things.

In my spare time I sometimes make bike tours with my family or with my friends. But my favourite type of biking is downhill unfortunately there is no downhill bike-park in or nearby Berlin. So I can only do that in the holidays. I have the same problem with another sport I like.
Snowboarding. I also wanted to try out parcour but there is no offical parcour club in Berlin. I have the wrong hobbies for living in berlin!

When my friends an me normaly hang out we go to the cinema or just walk through the malls in Berlin. But we also go sometimes swimming, playing beachvolleyball or climbing in a climbingpark. And when wo don`t want to go out or during bad weather we play videogames together(on xbox one).

Currently I attend the 10th grade of the Gabriele-von-Bülow-Gymnasium. My favourite subjects are PE, History, Geography, English and German. I like History and Geography, because I want to know what was in the past and what is now. An adequate articulation is very important and the base of all, thats why I like English and German. PE is anyway one of my favourite subject. I am also interested in econemy and psychology.

You will probably ask yourself why I want tob e an international student. I think it is a great opportunity to have an insane experience, meet new people, get to know about New Zealand´s way of life and the culture(especially about the Maori).
